LONDON -- ChevronTexaco Corp. (CVX) Wednesday said it wouldn't be able to deliver 20,000 barrels a day of crude oil out of Nigeria's Bonny Island oil terminal.

A company spokesman in Nigeria said the company will tell traders it can't meet "commitments for the lifting."

The crude passes out of Royal Dutch/Shell Group's (RD, SC) facilities at Bonny Island.

Shell declared force majeure effective at midnight local time Thursday (1100 GMT Wednesday) on 114,000 b/d of its Nigerian Bonny Light crude because of production disruptions following villagers' protests at some of its oil platforms in the Niger Delta.
