LONDON -- The Shell Transport and Trading Company, p.l.c. said Tuesday that on Aug. 23, 2004 it purchased for cancellation 2,000,000 ordinary shares at 403.32 pence per share. Royal Dutch Petroleum Company, also on Aug. 23, 2004, purchased 400,000 ordinary shares at EUR41.41 per share.
