EMAIL EXCHANGE WITH MR MIKE WEBSTER. CHURCH OF ENGLAND SOLICITOR 7 JUNE 04

7 June 04

Dear Mr Webster

Further to the telephone conversation this morning I would suggest that you retain a copy of the fax - I am the author and hereby give you permission to do so.

For your information Sir Anthony Hammond QC is a director and shareholder in Hakluyt. I am deeply concerned to discover that the tentacles of an evil and shadowy organisation, Hakluyt, reach right into the very heart of the British establishment, the Church of England.

As Sir Anthony is now no doubt aware (since I informed Hakluyt late last week) I have been contacted by the Intelligence and Security Committee. The Committee is made up of a cross-party membership of UK Members of Parliament appointed by the Prime Minister. Under the provisions of the Intelligence Services Act of 1994, the Committee has parliamentary oversight responsibility for the Secret Intelligence Service, GCHQ, and the Security Service.

The Clerk to the Intelligence and Security Committee, Mr Alistair Corbett, has contacted me on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee, the Right Honourable Ann Taylor MP regarding the concerns I have expressed about Hakluyt. I am advised by Mr Corbett that the Chairman will be raising this matter with the other Committee members. In fact I will be supplying the Committee with further information later today.

Other developments are taking place and the fax which you have in your possession could turn out to be an important item of interest/evidence, hence my suggestion that you keep a copy.

This is perhaps the reason why the intended recipient of the fax did not ask you to hand it over as it would have exposed their connection with Hakluyt. It is of course also noticeable that the intended recipient was not identified on the fax.

Yours sincerely

Alfred Donovan

Response from Mr Webster 7 June 04 (10.40 am)

I passed this documentation on as soon as I received the call from your son this morning and before your email arrived and without taking a copy.

Mike Webster
