KUALA LUMPUR: Shell Malaysia has come up with a novel way to commemorate Malaysia’s 47th year of independence – it will market limited bottle editions of the “ Merdeka 2004” mineral water.

They will be sold for just one day on Aug 31 at 380 Shell Select convenience stores at RM1 per bottle.  Each customer is limited to two bottles each as an estimated 200,000 bottles will be sold through these outlets.

Mohzani Wahab, managing director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd, said the “Merdeka 2004” edition is an embodiment of attributes that Malaysia and Shell share-vibrance and vision, diversity and dynamism.

The Shell “ Merdeka 2004” mineral water bottle features a dramatic single bloom of the hibiscus, the country’s national flower.

Mohzani said that if the “Merdeka 2004” edition proves to be a hit, the company hopes to unveil an annual collection with a new design and fresh theme each time.

Shell Malaysia will also provide 200 bottles of the “Merdeka 2004” mineral water at the grandstand of the National Day parade in Kuantan on Tuesday.

Shell has been in Malaysia for the last 114 years and Shell Malaysia is an integrated energy company comprising some 30 wholly-owned, joint-venture or public-listed companies.

Employing more than 5,000 employees of whom 95 per cent are Malaysians, Shell Malaysia is engaged in exploration and production, oil products and gas and power, and has nine global shared service hubs in the country.

Between 2003 and 2007, it is committed to investing RM12 billion Malaysia.
