BP is selling its 10pc stake in North Sea gas field Ormen Lange, to Danish group Dong for $1.2 billion (£642m). The gas field is seen as crucial to the UK's future energy needs but it was one of the fields that Shell said it had overbooked its reserves earlier this year. BP said it wanted to exit because it did not have full control.
