Royal Dutch/Shell Group (Shell) has continued its support to entrepreneurs in the Middle East region by being one of the key sponsors of 'Entrepreneurs in Dubai', the International Entrepreneurship Forum and Exhibition (IEFE), which will be the world's largest gathering of entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Hussain Al Mahmoudi, Shell External Affairs Manager.

The event, to be held from May 23-25, 2005, at the Dubai International Exhibition Center, will host more than 30 world renowned speakers who will share their success stories and experience with around 1500 delegates expected to gather at the forum.

'Shell has been actively involved in promoting the entrepreneurial spirit in the Middle East by endorsing a number of important events and programmes that support and nurture entrepreneurs,' said Hussain Al Mahmoudi, External Affairs Manager, Shell. 'Dubai has an abundance of business leaders and young entrepreneurs who have a common vision of ensuring the all round development and growth of the emirate, while transforming Dubai into the premier business destination of the world. As responsible corporate citizens, it is our duty to provide a platform for these entrepreneurs to network with influential business leaders and draw inspiration from their insights.'

'Our support to this specialised forum and exhibition complements our other key efforts in this regard, including the Intilaaqah training program, Emirates Businesswomen Award and our commitment to the Young Entrepreneurs Organisation,' he added.

The Intilaaqah programme is an adaptation of Shell's highly successful LiveWire programme, which is currently running in over 24 countries worldwide. It is targeted at young people to help them set up and run their own businesses, by offering training and free consultation on their feasibility studies.

The Emirates Business Women Award launched by Shell, is aimed at publicly acknowledging and rewarding the contribution of businesswomen in the UAE, by identifying and recognising outstanding business prowess. It is targeted to provide a showcase for businesswomen so as to encourage women to take an active role in the strategic development of UAE and the Middle East region as a whole. The award intends to raise the profile of businesswomen in the UAE and provides them a platform to explore new business opportunities and establish fruitful relationships in the corporate world.

Demonstrating its commitment to young entrepreneurs, Shell sponsors the prestigious international Young Entrepreneurs' Organisation (YEO) and World Entrepreneurs' Organisation (WEO). The YEO, whose membership spans 35 countries, is a global, non-profit educational organisation that affords young entrepreneurs the opportunity to draw on business leaders' experiences and success stories through a series of educational forums and networking opportunities.

'The International Entrepreneurship Forum & Exhibition will feature some of the biggest names in global business, including international property tycoon Donald Trump, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the man who founded the no-frills Easy Jet airline, The Body Shop initiator Dame Anita Roddick and Sir Chris Evans, Britain's most popular biotech entrepreneur. The delegates at the event will have a good opportunity to benefit from the vast experience and knowledge of the speakers and realise their entrepreneurial ambitions,' added Al Mahmoudi.

IEFE is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Board, Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders and organised in co-operation with IIR Middle East and Young Arab Leaders (YAL), an organisation aimed at transforming the Arab World and aiding its effective integration into the global economy by building its young leadership base.

'The event will serve as an ideal platform to promote an entreprenurial sprit among young business men and women in the region, inspiring them to set up their own enterprises. It is crucial to nurture and develop leadership qualities among individuals so that they can contribute to the progress and sustainable development of the society,' concluded Al Mahmoudi.
