Asia Pulse: SOLAR SHELL ENTERS INDONESIAN MARKET FOR SOLAR ENERGY: TUESDAY Aug 30, 2005
JAKARTA, Aug 30 Asia Pulse - Solar Shell has sounded out the market of solar energy in Indonesia by opening its marketing office in Jakarta, chief of Indonesia Shell group Bob Moran said in a press release here on Monday.
"I am very happy to expand our market by opening an office in Indonesia. Our activity is to supplement the government policy in developing its latest energy to solve the country`s electricity problem," Bob Moran said in the statement.
According to him, the objective of the company`s market in Indonesia was to sell solar energy to rural areas which have yet to be electrified.
He said the opening of the Jakarta office was based on Shell`s experience in construction solar energy generating plants in India, Sri Lanka and the Philippines, and the company`s success in meeting the solar energy demands in the rural areas in those countries.
Moran noted further that they had a commitment to supply solar power to 2,000 homes in rural areas in the next two years.
Solar Shell Indonesia, he said, was a part of the Solar Shell group which has been engaged in the solar energy business for 30 years, and has supplied solar electric energy to industries and homes in 75 countries.
