Rio Tinto, the world’s second-biggest miner, will report its annual results on Thursday, with analysts predicting pre-tax profits of $1.9 billion (£1 billion), from $2.1 billion last year.
ExxonMobil, the world’s biggest listed energy company, is today expected to report that last year it discovered as much oil and gas as it extracted.
