Shell Advance recently announced its intention to sponsor British team Rizla Suzuki, heralding the brands first venture to sponsor a Superbike team in the British chamionship.
Shell is synonymous with the Formula One team of Ferrari, who has dominated the series for the past seven years, and the Superbike Ducati 1000cc V-twin, which has been the dominating machine in international and national Superbike championships since its release in the mid 90's.
The recent announcement to support reigning BSB champions Rizla Suzuki coincides with the current rise in success of the 1000cc four cylinder Japanese machines that are likely to continue dominating Superbike racing for the foreseeable future.
Part of Rizla and Shell's partnership this season will concentrate on the continued development of its high performance motorcycle oil.
“There isn't a bigger name in motorcycle oil than Shell Advance and it is a real credit that this brand has picked Rizla Suzuki for a technical partnership,” commented Robert Wicks, the Rizla team manager.
Shell admitted that by joining Rizla it would give the company the ability to develop its new oils in the worlds most competitive domestic racing championship.
“We are absolutely committed to making the best Advance Motorcycle Oil possible and through our technical relationship with Rizla Suzuki we will be able to test our oil in the most competitive Superbike Championship in the world,” concluded Shell UK motorcycle sector manager, Les Dash.
The first round of the British Superbike championship commences at Brands Hatch on 28th March.
