TruckingInfo:com: Shell Lubricants Grants One Wish, Donates $100,000 to Make-A-Wish Foundation (ShellNews.net) Posted 22 Jan 05
The Transport Group of Shell Lubricants recently celebrated its support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation with an event honoring one of the Foundation’s “Wish Kids.”
In a reception at the Shell offices at Pennzoil Place in Houston, Texas, Amir, a 14-year-old boy from Pearland, Texas, had his own wish granted and accepted a $100,000 contribution on behalf of Make-A-Wish from product representatives for Shell ROTELLA T.
The funds were pledged to Make-A-Wish in 2004 for the purpose of granting five wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions. Amir’s wish was to have a big-screen TV so he could watch his favorite team, the Houston Rockets, in action. After a limo ride with is mother and sister from Pearland to downtown Houston, Amir got his wish -- but not before he was treated to a few other surprises as well.
With a gift certificate from the Transport Group, he selected a remote-controlled Hummer from the company store. Then, after being greeted by Shell employees in a 20th floor reception area, he was presented with an official Rockets team jersey, an autographed tee-shirt and cap, and four tickets to any Rockets game of his choice. On top of that, he received a bag full of ROTELLA T memorabilia and plenty of games and accessories to enhance his new 56-inch TV.
Dennis Doggett, director of transport marketing; Patty Lanning, manager of transport group marketing; and Scott Harvey, Shell ROTELLA T Installed Channel manager, made the presentations in a balloon-filled room that included representatives from Make-A-Wish and a group of enthusiastic Shell employees.
